PENGUINS UNVEIL 2008-09 THIRD JERSEY, MARKETING CAMPAIGN AND 10th SEASON LOGO

Fans will be seeing blue again during the 2008-09 American Hockey League season at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza, as the Wilkes-New Jersey FrontBarre/Scranton Penguins will be wearing special white and blue alternate jerseys during select home games this season.

The predominantly white sweaters feature dark blue and light blue sleeves and striping, similar to the colors worn by the Pittsburgh Penguins from the team’s inception in 1967 until January 30, 1980.  The word PENGUINS is arched across the chest, leaving a space below the lettering for player numbers.  Pittsburgh Penguins logos adorn each shoulder.New Jersey Back

“Our blue jerseys from the 2004-05 and 2006-07 seasons are undoubtedly the most popular alternate sweaters we have produced in our nine seasons, and fans have been clamoring for us to bring that color scheme back,” said Penguins President Rich Hixon.  “We have tried to incorporate the best of the old and new in this season’s alternate sweater, mixing the new Rbk Edge jersey, along and a unique lettering and numbering pattern, with these popular and historic colors.”

The 2008-09 alternate jerseys will be available to purchase in the Penguins Team Store (670 North River Street, Wilkes-Barre, 18705) beginning in early October.

The Penguins have released their 2008-09 marketing campaign theme – MAKING MEMORIES.WBS Penguins Logo

“As we enter our 10th season in the American Hockey League, we want to pay tribute to many of the players who have helped make the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins one of the most successful teams in the league during the past decade,” said Hixon.  “We are also looking forward to making many more memories with what we believe will be an energetic and entertaining team this season.”
