Penguins Let Game 4 Slip In OT

It was game four between the Providence Bruins and the WBS Penguins tonight at the Dunkin Donut Center tonight. The WBS Penguins looking to go up three games to one the Bruins looking even the series at two each.

The Bruins would strike first on a blown coverage by WBS. a shot on net through a screen puts the Bruins up 1-0 just 3:11 into the first. WBS did have the first chance but the ref said the puck was covered and never crossed the line.

Both sides got some great chances throughout the first period but at the buzzer it was still Providence one WBS Penguins zero looking at 40 more minutes of hockey to play.

The Penguins got some great chances in the beginning of he second but Subban keeps his team in the lead. It wouldn’t be until 6:44 left in the second that Reid McNeil would find the back of the net to make it a one to one game, giving WBS some momentum.

At the end of the second period the WBS Penguins left the ice even up at one with the Bruins. WBS did a nice job of limiting Providence in shot only allowing four during the second but getting eighteen in on Malcolm Subban.

Chuck Kobasew gets called for a trip the first penalty of the game early in the third giving the Bruins power play the first man advantage of the game. Providence scored but it was whistled dead ref said a Penguin played the puck with their hand in the crease and gave the Bruins a penalty shot. Peter Mannino comes up big and keeps it 1-1.

Conor Sheary would take the pick up the ice with a poke takes it down the right side in on Subban and sinks it deep in the goal giving the WBS Penguins a 2-1 lead.

WBS scores a third goal in the contest but it is waived off as Kobasew gets called for goaltender interference only the second penalty of the game and Kobasew owns them both. WBS gets it’s first power play at 17:33 of the third Cory Kane called for a slash giving the Pens a chance to shut the door on this game.

Providence scored at the buzzer goal went for review to see if it counted and it did with .6 left on the clock forcing another OT game.

Just 24 seconds into the OT WBS gets a great opportunity as the Bruins take a tripping penalty putting WBS on the power play. After several chances and attempts the Bruins score after Peter Mannino thought he had it wrapped up Cory Kane made 3-2 Bruins again the series is even now at 2 each.
