Forward Cody Sylvester and Goaltender Mike Condon have been named Sher-Wood Hockey Player of the week and CCM Goaltender of the week, respectively. Both awards were announced by the ECHL today.
Sylvester, 21, had 4 points (3+1) in defeating Reading Friday. He also had the game-winning goal vs. Cincinnati Saturday, and the game tying goal in Reading on Sunday. The native of Kelowna, B.C. leads the Nailers in goals with 22. That mark is also second among ECHL rookies. In recognition of this award, Sher-Wood is going to donate a case of pucks in Sylvesters’ name to the Wheeling Amateur Hockey Association.
Condon, 23, went 2-0-0 with a 0.50 Goals Against and a .983 Save percentage in two appearances last week. He made 27 saves against Reading on Friday, and stopped all 31 shots in a 2-0 shutout of Cincinnati on Saturday. The Native of Hamilton, Ontario is 19-11-4 with three shutouts this season. His .925 Save percentage is second in the ECHL, while his 2.25 Goals Against Average is ninth.
Condon also won the award the week of December 25th, while Sylvester won the same award the week of January 20th.
