Last game on the Canadian trip for the Penguins this weekend was a stop at the Marlies house. Yes the WBS Penguins took on the Marlies today at the Ricoh Coliseum.
The first. Would be a tossup with both teams getting some action back-and-forth but nothing really happening. The Penguins would give Toronto three power plays during the first but killed them off.
It wouldn’t be until later in the. Scott Harrington would score for the Penguins making it one nothing game at 17:59.
In the second. Wilkes-Barre would get the only two power plays of that period but would not score on either one of them, however Toronto would take advantage and score shorthanded making it a one to one game on the first power-play handed to the Pens.
Anton Zlobin would score late in the second to put the Penguins on top again 2 to 1. That’s how the second period end with the Penguins leading and 20 more minutes of hockey to play in regulation.
The third frame saw more scoring from Toronto as they would tally a score at 10:56 and one 15:59 to put them up 3-2 with just over four minutes to play in regulation.
The Penguins Nick Drazenovic would get the even up goal at 19:47 to force the game into overtime, but there would be no change to the overtime period and both sides would look towards the shootout.
At the end of the shootout round the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins would be victorious beating the Toronto Marlies 4-3 putting an end to their Canadian trip for the weekend and coming home with5 out of a possible 6 points.
