Tonight the Norfolk Admirals came to Wilkes-Barre to face the WBS Penguins in front of a Mohegan Sun Arena home crowd. The Penguins looking to get some retribution from the January 24th game and the Admirals looking for another notch in there belt with a win over WBS.
WBS gets the first power play of the game as Norfolk’s Vatanen sits in the bin for high sticking 4 minutes. The WBS Power Play looked sloppy coughing up the puck allowing Norfolk to control the flow ultimately giving up a short handed goal to give the Admirals a one nothing lead.
Later in the first penguins gave up a second goal Norfolk’s Smith-Pelly scores Hartzell stopped it and it trickled past making it two nothing Norfolk.
WBS Penguins come out hard for the second period looking to get back some of the goals they were trailing by, Reid McNeil would sink the Penguins lone goal cutting the Admirals lead in half and giving his team a little momentum at 3:52 of the second.
By the end of two periods the Admirals were still leading 2-1 but the Penguins were still coming on and hitting hard looking to even it up in the third.
WBS would keep the momentum going into the third but just not get the bounces they needed to get the even up goal John Gibson seemed to have a bead on nearly every shot the Penguins took.
