Monarchs Push Past Penguins 4 – 2

It was the Manchester Monarchs taking on the WBS Penguins tonight in a nicely filled Mohegan Sun Arena on this cold January night.

First period in the books the WBS Penguins trailed the Monarchs 1-0. Manchester scored off Jeff Deslauriers looked like it went off his shoulder at 2:34; the rest of the period was seemingly all Manchester. WBS did manage to get the puck into the Monarchs zone but had trouble keeping it there.

Out of the 7 shots on goal Wilkes-Barre/Scranton had during the first period four of them had potential. As the two teams headed for the dressing room the Pens still trailed 1-0.

Second period was more of the same from the first with the Monarchs scoring just fifty two seconds into the frame. WBS getting some power play time but not making anything out it.

Just when it looked as if the Pens were going to leave the ice for the second intermission down by two Tom Kuhnhackl breaks the WBS silence and scores making it a one goal game with 1:51 left in the second. At the break it was WBS 1 Manchester 2

With 12:13 left in regulation Nick Drazenovic evens things up for WBS at two all putting in a nice rebound goal as he camped out at the back post.

With 5:55 left in the game Manchester gets the go ahead goal making it 3-2 and WBS looking at a rut to climb out of. Despite their efforts the Penguins just couldn’t get it done, and to add insult to injury Manchester would score an empty netter making tonight’s final score WBS 2 Manchester 4. Here are highlights of tonight’s game.

And on a final note congrats to our t-shirt winner Jennifer D. she tweeted @PensFans4Ever and earned a PensFans4Ever t-shirt. If you entered and didn’t win don’t worry we have more coming soon.
