It was the WBS Penguins taking on the Worcester Sharks tonight at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. A great night for hockey as the saying goes but it proved to be not such a hot night for the WBS Penguins.
WBS Penguins not generating very much during the first period and giving the Sharks two power plays landed the Penguins in a one goal rut by the end of the first period.
Worcester’s Freddie Hamilton was the one who made good on the C.J. Severyn high stick penalty taking only 21 seconds to score. The Sharks were out shooting the Pens 10 to 3 at this point.
Second period didn’t do much for WBS the Sharks giving the Pens a power play chance to get on the boards but WBS could not convert. Worcester scored during the second period just 2:41 in getting the second goal for the Sharks would be Jimmy Bonneau, at the end of two it was the WBS Penguins 0 the Worcester Sharks 2 SOG Sharks out shooting the Pens 14 to 8.
The third period looked a little better for the Penguins they seemed to get a little pep in their step knowing they were down two to zip at this point. Just nearing the midway point of the third period the Sharks bite again making it a three goal spread and just about snuffing the hopes of the Penguin crowd out, but there was still hope late in the third when the Penguins were going for broke Nick Drazenovic caught a nice break came in on Harri Sateri got hooked down and drew a penalty shot. Drazenovic scores on the PS making it a two goal game but time was not on the Penguins side.
Regulation would end with the WBS Penguins falling to the Worcester Sharks by a score of 4-1 yes the Sharks scored an empty netter to seal the deal and that was the game. Here are some highlights from tonight’s game.
