Penguins Return Rowney to Nailers

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Carter Rowney has been returned on loan to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.

Rowney, 23, skated in three contests with the Penguins, making his Wilkes-Barre/Scranton debut on Nov. 29 against the Binghamton Senators.  He has registered six goals, seven assists and seven penalty minutes in 15 games with Wheeling and ranks third on the team in points (13).

Rowney was a four-year letterman at the University of North Dakota, where he compiled 73 points (32g-41a) and 65 penalty minutes in 150 contests.  The native of Sexsmith, Alberta made his professional and American Hockey League debut in March, dressing in four games for the Abbotsford Heat.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins begin a five-game homestand tonight when they face the Springfield Falcons, 7:05 p.m., at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza
