Falcons Pull Win From Penguins

WBS Penguins took on the Springfield Falcons tonight in front of a spares home crowd, seems that most of he faithful fans made the trip tonight could have used some more fans tonight maybe the noise would have given the Pens better Mojo who knows.

Penguins get first power play of the game but do nothing with it they seemed to be having trouble getting things set up. WBS would give Springfield a chance on the power play as Mickleson sat for high sticking, as Springfield gets things moving Joudrey gets called for interference creating some 4×4 hockey on which the Falcons would score.

Each side getting some more power play time but nothing to show on the boards for their efforts. The first period went in the books with WBS Penguins down 1-0 but with two more periods to play.

With the second period in the books tonight the Falcons lead 2-0 scoring their second goal on the power play nearing the end of the second period as Sylvester sat for a rough.

LeBlond and Bass had a little dance during the second as well both boys getting in some shots but have to score this one for the home team LeBlond wins by decision.

WBS needed a good third period effort and almost pulled it off. C. J. Severyn would sit in the bin for WBS at the beginning of the third taking a hooking penalty and giving Springfield a chance to pull ahead by three, but Harry Zolnierczyk draws a penalty shot as he comes in on a fast break short handed none the less and gets hooked down. Zolnierczyk makes good on the penalty shot finally breaking the scoring blockade the Falcons put up bring the Pens within one goal.

Gibbons and Goloubef drew matching minors making it 4×4 hockey Nick Drazenovic intercepts the puck takes it into Springfield’s zone gives a nice feed to Paul Thompson who scores the Penguins even up goal now two all.

Just seconds later Kostopoulos gets nailed for goaltender interference putting the Falcons on the power play, it didn’t even seem like they set up before they scored making it 3-2 Springfield.

Penguins pull JDD for the extra attacker but it doesn’t get it done Falcons win over Penguins 3-2 tonight at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Here are some video hightlights from tonight’s game.
