First period action WBS Penguins had a power play nothing in the way of goals but some nice chances. We gave two power plays to Hershey One when Conner got called on a trip and one when Uher went for an elbow. There was matching minors with Whitmore and Harrington but only created a 4×4 situation needless to say nothing for either side came out of it.
Pens get a power play right out the gate for the second frame as Hershey’s Latta sits for a rough but the Penguins don’t convert. Kundratek scores for the Bears putting them on the board first and giving the Penguins home crowd a slight hush.
WBS gives hershey a power play as Kostopoulos gets called for interference but Gibbons and Megna get a break for the Pens coming In on Leggio with a nice pass to and from each other to score a short handed goal just three minutes later making it one all.
Both sides getting some great chances Leggio and Deslauriers doing a good job of keeping things even at the end of two, SOG so far Hershey 19 WBS 11.
Third period still has some good end to end action Delauriers doing his part to keep it even with some nice saves. Referee Nic Leduc making some calls that were questionable and making some non calls that were the same. The boys started to get a little edgy tempers started to get tested but no major brawls broke out just a few pushing and shoving matches.
It wasn’t until later in the third period that things started to happen for WBS as again Brian Gibbons this time with Chris Conner come in on a breakaway Gibbons with a nice pass to Conner who puts it past Leggio making it two to one Penguins. Then just over a minute later Uher passes one to Sill from behind the net and Sill blasts one home past Leggio making it three to one Penguins with under two minutes left in regulation.
That’s where tonight’s game would stay through the end of the third the Penguins taking the first meeting of the 2013-14 series with the Hershey bears by a score of 3-1.
