Sharks Get 2 Shorties To Power Past Penguins



The Worcester Sharks came to Wilkes-Barre tonight to take on the WBS Penguins for the Pens second to last game of the season. The WBS Penguins got on the power play :48 in but had trouble getting set up, Adam Payerl scores on a rebound just seconds after the power play expires making it 1-0 Penguins. WBS Trevor Smith with a nice move almost scores just after the Payerl goal but gets robbed at the door.

Worcester’s Schwartz scores a rebound goal making It 1-1. More end to end hockey through the end of the first Zatkoff Coming up big for the Penguins keeping this an even contest. Bobby Farham gets called for a rough after Alex Stalock runs into him but after everything is sorted out its matching minors. Period ends 1-1.

WBS gets first power play of he period but does nothing with it Sharks actually getting some chances during this power play. Good end to end action tonight both sides getting their share of chances. Them Uher gets rocked at the blue line Doumolin grabs hold of a jersey and gets called for a rough , define roughing. Second period ends still tied 1-1 Penguins looking to the third period for a game winning goal.

Third period action Gibbons called for goaltender interference after Alex Stalock Skated out of the crease and played the puck In front of gibbons. Then All hell breaks loose Farnham crushes a Shark against the boards and a good old fashioned square dance breaks out. After all the penalties are sorted out the Sharks ended up with a power play but get called for interference so it gets shortened, but needless to say Worcester scores a power play goal making it 2-1 Sharks.

With just over seven minutes to play in the third Riley Holzapfel scores for the Penguins making it 2-2 turning up the heat as both sides start getting a little more chippy. Two bad turnovers on the power play turn into a Worcester short handed goal giving the sharks a 3-2 lead with just 1:54 to play in regulation WBS would pull Zatkoff and the Sharks would score an empty net short handed goal making it 4-2 to end regulation.

WBS will face the Manchester Monarchs tomorrow night for the final home game of the season.
