The WBS Penguins took on the St. John’s IceCaps again today the second meeting in two days for the clubs. WBS started the scoring today as Chad Kolarik put one past Pasquale after receiving a nice pass from Alex Grant making it 1-0 Penguins. Minella and Cody Sol would do a little dancing both would sit.
WBS would get more power plays giving them some great chances but the only thing that came out of the power play late in the period would be a short handed goal by the IceCaps with just1.8 seconds left scores tied 1-1
Penguins get more action in the second period , Dominik Uher who was on a HTA last night gets yet another goal today Adam Payerl finds a way around the net and passes to Uher who backhands it home making it 2-1 Penguins. But don’t count the IceCaps out of it the ever dangerous Dean Arsene fired right back with a nice shot that was tipped by Ray Sawada making it 2-2
The IceCaps really started to pick things up scoring again on Brad Thiessen as Ben Maxwell and smokes one into the net now 3-2 IceCaps. Then off the the faceoff, Trevor Smith gets the puck comes in and puts it under Pasquale to tie it at 3-3, talk about a tennis match.
More tennis match for the third period as well end to end hockey, the IceCaps scored on what some have called an off-sides play, I wasn’t there I couldn’t tell you all I know is that it out the IceCaps up 4-3. The Penguins would come back to tie in up Chad Kolarik would do the honors making it 4-4 and that is where it would end for regulation both sides taking a point out of today’s game.
Overtime? well it would be Chad Kolarik who would be the hero today with some great moves and an even better shot giving the WBS Penguins the OT win and the extra point. The WBS Penguins are two for two this weekend up in Newfoundland and are heading home to take on the Worcester Sharks.
