From the start you had a feeling the Penguins weren’t going to do well tonight as the IceCaps capitalized on a Wilkes-Barre turnover at the blue line very early on nearly scoring but ringing off the post.
It wouldn’t be until later in the period the Penguins start playing even the two power plays they had looked terrible. Don’t know if something was said or they just shook off the trip but Bobby Farnham put one on net and Uher tipped it in giving the Pens a 1-0 lead that’s when things started to pick up for WBS.
In the second period things started looking better for wbs as Uher struck again going on HTA with a tip in, just over nine minutes into the second period as Brian Dumoulin put it on net from near the blue line. Paul Thompson scores the Pens third goal after getting a nice outlet pass from Trevor Smith.
Kubalik sits for a hook putting WBS on another power play for the third time today Pens 0/2 so far on the power play this one makes it 0/3. Joey Mormina takes an interference penalty putting the IceCaps on the power play for just about the rest of the second. WBS kills it off keeping it 3-0 heading off the ice for the second Intermission.
Third just starts just 18 seconds in as Sill gets called for kneeing then Tousignant comes after sill both throw down both sit. Then St. John’s Lunden takes a slashing penalty giving WBS a power play, IceCaps get a short handed bid but can’t get it together as the shot went wide.
Brian Gibbons gets leveled by a vicious elbow from Kael Mouillierat starting an old fashioned square dance. Zatkoff had a great game tonight keeping his team on top with some absolutely fantastic saves.
IceCaps empty the net going for broke but ice the puck bringing Dekanich back for a short time but he makes it off with 1:30 to go.
WBS holds the line taking the IceCaps 3-0 paving the way for the playoffs
