Tonight the WBS Penguins took on the Albany Devils at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, and it was bobble head night so that means nice crowd.
Things get started and I mean just get started and Bobby Farnham draws a holding penalty giving the Pens an extremely early power play just :19 in. The Penguins just get things set up and there it is Chad Kolarik scores, WBS is on the board just 48 seconds into the game.
Farnham sits for unsportsmanlike diving not long after the Penguins goal giving Albany the chance to even things up but WBS holds them off, just as the Devils power play was coming to an end the Devils takes a too many men on the ice penalty giving the Penguins a power play again
WBS would score again but it wouldn’t be until just before the first period ends, Alex Grant with a nice heads up breakaway pass to Trevor Smith who stick handled around a Devils D-man and scored the Pens second goal another power play goal. That’s how the first period would end the Pens heading to the dressing room up 2-0.
The second period saw a lot of good chances but no scoring as the Pens were given three power plays one turning into a 5×3 for a short burst. No scoring during the second period but some good action.
After that it was all Penguins Alex Grant let loose a cannon shot from the point that beat Frazee, giving the Pens their third power play goal of the night and their goal as well. A few minutes later it would be Paul Thompson getting a piece of a shot from Jayson Megna making it 4-0 Penguins, that’s how tonight would end Zatkoff getting his fourth shutout of the season.
