The WBS Penguins took on the Norfolk Admirals tonight at the Scope WBS looking to gain more points over the Hershey Bears keeping them in third place in the East Division
Trevor smith scores off the skate but did not kick it in , Smith corralled a loose puck caught Norfolk sleeping Andersen gets a nice poke check save on Smith but the puck glances off his skate and into the net 1-0 WBS after review. Penguins get a power play Bennett with a clank off the crossbar but that’s about it then as one power play ends another starts for WBS as Norfk gets called for too many men. WBS gets a total of 4 power plays in the first the fourth carries over but they have no conversions.
The Penguins start second with one minute of power play left from the first period but do nothing with it. Norfolk gets their second power play of the game as Joey Mormina sits for a slash then Collins for a trip giving Norfolk another power play, but the Penguins kill them off keeping it 1-0. WBS would get another power play chance as Guenin sat for interference but still no conversion. Penguins would get a second goal as Riley Holzapfel smokes one past the blocker of Andersen putting the Penguins up 2-0. Dumoulin grabs a rebound fakes a shot and passes to Collins who sinks the Penguins third goal with just over a minute left in the second period. Norfolk takes an unsportsmanlike as the goal is scored and puts WBS on the power play, no conversion in the second but get 39 seconds of carry over power play for the beginning of the third.
Penguins get chances but no conversion but Norfolk makes good on a swat in goal by Bonis after a last chance clear taking Zatkoff’s shutout away. Norfolk really started bringing the pressure Cody Wild clears the puck over the glass taking a delay of game penalty putting the Admirals on the power play just as they are picking up momentum, and with 5:36 to go Norfolk converts Smith-Pelly tips a shot from Lindholm making it 3-2 Penguins still leading. WBS pins Andersen in the goal until there is only :48 left in regulation just as Andersen leaves the net WBS draws a penalty bringing him back for the last few seconds. All is well that ends well Penguins hold in to beat the Admirals 3-2
