Bruins get first power play but WBS kills it Brian Gibbons getting a nice short handed attempt but no goal then Gibbons and Megna get a chance but get robbed at the door step. Later WBS scores on the power play then gives bruins a power play, Brian Gibbons almost scores again that’s three short handed attempts from Brian he has been everywhere this period. Bruins Robins scores late in the first making it one all. The first ends with the score 1-1.
WBS gives Providence the first power play of the second period as Bortuzzo sat for high sticking then during the power play Warsofsky trips up Megna giving WBS a short power play but no conversion . Hirschfeld and Farnham do the dance each get five then Bobby Robins goes for unsportsmanlike and the Penguins get the power play still no conversion. Garnet Exelby
goes to the sin bin for interference WBS Power Play turns into a 5 on 3 Dylan Reese bangs yet another puck in making it now 2-1 Pens with Reese on HTA.
3rd Riley Holzapfel heads to the bin for tripping giving the bruins a power play but the WBS penalty kill works well. The bruins would score an even strength goal as the Pens seemed to have se trouble getting out of their own way for a bit flubbing passes and not getting the clears they needed.
Later Holzapfel takes a kneeing penalty and goes to the bin just after getting out of it. I don’t know if it was Farnham or who from the WBS bench that have the ref an earful but Farnham served the bench minor for it giving Providence a 2:00 5 on 3, and WBS killed it. WBS Penguins would get a late power play but at the end of regulation the score was 2-2 both teams getting a point out of it.
Needless to say OT comes and goes with no change to the score otherwise the headline would have said in OT not the Shootout Anyway Providence wins it in the shootout 3-2 taking the much needed extra point away from WBS who are still holding in third place of the east division just three points ahead of Hershey.
