WBS Penguins traveled from Providence to Portland to take on the pirates WBS Penguins get the first goal or so they thought after a long look the refs say no, almost immediately after the call Adam Payerl gets called for a trip putting the WBS Penalty Kill on the ice. Brian Gibbons comes in on a short handed bid but gets robbed on the doorstep either way the PK holds keeping it 0-0 early in the game.
WBS would get a power play just after the Portland power play as Chris Conner slashed Reese giving the chance to get back the one that didn’t count. And this time it did count Penguins with a great screen in front of Mike Lee, Joe Morrow puts in a nice wrist shot now the Penguins are up 1-0 then almost two minutes exactly later Jayson Megna puts the biscuit in the basket making it 2-0 WBS.
At the end of one it was the Penguins two Portland Pirates zero Penguins making good one for one on the power-play and killing off all three chances they gave the Pirates
During the second frame tonight the Pirates would mount a come back capitalizing on Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s of mojo or get up and go either way things got tied up it would be Portland’s Conner scoring on a four on four and then Brown getting the honors of making things difficult for the Penguins scoring on the power play. That would be how the second period ended both teams heading for the dressing room in a 2-2 tie.
Third period gets going and the Penguins are looking to get the mojo back Mormina gambled on a keep in lost the puck off his skate Chris Brown would jump on it come in on Brad Thiessen all alone and fire a wrister passed Brad making it 3-2 Portland, and now the Penguins have something to worry about.Joey Mormina would redeem himself after the b ad luck bounce of his skate and fire a shot from the blue line not that it went in but it cause a cascade of things ending with Zach Sill banging one home making it a 3-3 game. WBS would get one more power play befor the end of regulation giving them the chance they needed to pull out the win but it just wasn’t in the stars for them tonight, regulation would end both teams getting one point the scoreboard reading 3-3
now the good thing about the overtime was that the power play the Pens didn’t score on carried over into the OT, WBS would capitalize on the power play as Chad Kolarik would put it past Michael Lee giving the WBS Penguins the OT win and the second point.
