It was announced today that the Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned defenseman Reid McNeill to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday, McNeill did not appear in any games for the Penguins. McNeill has recorded four assists and 39 penalty minutes in 25 games with the Nailers this year in his first pro season.
Originally from London, Ontario, McNeill split three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (2009-12) with the London Knights and Barrie Colts, totaling 23 points (7G-16A) and 162 PIM in 166 contests. McNeill, 20, was a sixth-round selection (#170) of Pittsburgh in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins battle the Norfolk Admirals at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza on Friday, Feb. 15 at 7:05PM.
