Penguins Get Revenge Take Admirals 4-1

In the second meeting in two days on the road the Penguins took on the Norfolk Admirals looking to revenge the loss the night before. In front of a nice crowd at the Scope in Norfolk Virginia and not to mention a nice showing by the WBS Pens Booster club the Penguins set their sites.

Three seconds in Alex Grant and Josh Brittain get at it linesmen break it up a little early have to call this one even. Then “Big Mac” Steve Macintyre comes on the ice and things settle down. Riley Holzapfel was trying to finish a hit and gets rocked ,goes down in the ice and is helped to the bench.

Norfolk would get the first power play of the game as Tom Kostopoulos gets called for hooking firing up the WBS Penalty Kill for the first time tonight. WBS gets the second power play of the game as the Admirals get caught on a bad line change for too many men on the ice, ex penguin Luca Caputi would serve it.

WBS gets a deflection goal to get on the scoreboard first, Trevor smith getting the tally making it 1-0 WBS Penguins. First period would come to an end with the Pens on the power play creating a 1:37 of carry over power play to start the second period.

Second starts with WBS on the power play and they make it count as Kolarik gets a great pass to Great pass to Beau Bennett who puts it home. Penguins continue to press at this point out shooting Norfolk 21-8 with 2/3 of the period to go. Norfolk puts one in the net but it is Luca Caputi batting it in with his hand the goal is reviewed and waved off.

Norfolk comes in as they intercept a shot from Kolarik come in with a 2 on 0 and nail a short handed goal making it a one point game, then Jayson Megna gets called for a hook putting Norfolk on a much needed power play then Josh Brittain gets called for a rough creating a 4 on 4 then a WBS power play. Just as this gets going Holzapfel gets called for holding the stick again 4 on 4 then a Norfolk power play. After all the penalties score remains 2-1 WBS at the close of the second Pens seeming to get a little sloppy towards the end of the period bit hold on to the lead.

Third period started WBS still playing sloppy with three turnovers in the beginning minutes Payerl gets called for interference putting the Pens down a man with Norfolk looking to even it up. WBS kills it off Zatkoff keeping the Pens ahead stopping two pucks in the crease.

With 9:55 left in regulation both tea were looking for something and the Penguins find it as Riley Holzapfel fires a shot into the back of the net behind Igor Bobkov making it 3-1.

Warren Peters gets called for a face off violation putting the Admirals on the power play, WBS kills it off. Norfolk gets called for too many men on the ice putting WBS on the power play nearing the end of the third but don’t convert. Warren Peters seals the deal with an empty net goal making it 4-1 WBS.

Now the Penguins head home their next game will be against the Binghamton Senators on Tuesday the twelfth of February.
