Penguins Win 5th Straight – Against IceCaps

WBS Penguins get first power play just 1:30 in as Ice caps Maxwell would sit for a trip.Holzapfel sends a nice pass to Grant who one times it past net minder Pasquale for the WBS Penguins first goal of the game. Brian Gibbons gets called for a trip putting the WBS Penalty Kill on the ice for its first shift tonight.

Samuelsson scores the Pens second tally a nice wrist shot from the top of the zone through traffic and in the net with just over seven minutes left in the first, WBS would get a power play just after the goal but would come up empty on that one.

The WBS Penguins would score a third goal Riley Holzapfel would get a rebound and put it in the net making it 3-0

Second period got off to a slow start for the WBS Penguins but they seemed to pick it up just a little about eight minutes in. WBS playing a defensive game for the second period only getting off three shots on net to St. John’s 6. Late in the second period the Penguins sit for Closing hand on puck, and the IceCaps will get :49 of a carry over power play.

WBS kills the IceCaps power play keeping it 3-0. Gibbons misses a wide open net clanking it off the post. Thiessen making some nifty saves to get things going in the third period as well.

WBS Penguins get a power play nearing the mid point of the third period, the IceCaps pick WBS’s pocket and come close to getting a shorty. Penguins don’t convert score remains 3-0. Thats where it would stay through the end of the third Brad Thiessen earning his third shutout in his last six starts the win is now number 5, boys have a mini streak going here.
