WBS Shutout By Hershey

On a stormy winter evening the WBS Penguins took a ride to chocolate town to take in their arch rivals the Hershey Bears at the Giant Center.

It would be the Bears getting on the board first early in the period an even strength goal by Mitchell it was a routine clearout by the Penguins that came to Mitchell infront of the net and he slapped it home making it 1-0 Bears

WBS would get a power play a few minutes later as Mitchell, sat for delay of game but the Hershey PK held it own. WBS would get a second chance as Hamill would sit for a slash but the Pens can’t seem to get things together.\

Strait would take an interference penalty giving Hershey their first power play with less that two minutes left in the first and the Bears came in waves but with a few good saves and some luck the Pens leave the ice for the first intermission trailing 1-0.

Hershey gets a very short power play to start the second period bit the WBS Penguins kill it off.

Benn Ferriero got a good chance in alone on Holtby but Braden Holtby stopped him cold keeping it one nothing , then minutes later the duo of  Tangradi and Ferriero went to the net the puck was lose in the crease but the Hershey defense swept it out.

Brian Gibbons draws a tripping penalty as he works the puck sitting would be WBS trying to get something working on the power play something they were having trouble with in the first period going 0-2 there and this time wasn’t good either not getting a shot on net.

Warren Peterswould get called for a trip giving the Bears a second power play of the period the first a carry over from the first only lasted a few seconds but none the less, Bears not getting a shot on net yet this period with only 5:57 left in the period. Then WBS’s  Holzapfel puts the puck out of play drawing a 2 minutedelay of game penalty giving Hershey another great chance, then off the face off the Pens do it again but it lands in the penalty box and the Pens dodge a bullet.

Boyd Kane lips off to David Banfield after the Bears tip a puck over the glass trying to gain another penalty and ends up in the box creating a 4 on 4 nullifying his teams power play and giving the Pens a breif power play.  Paul Thompson would take a tripping penalty with 10 seconds left in the second frame giving the Bears a 1:50 man advantage for the beginning of the third.

Penguins get a great short handed chance but things just don’t go the way they need, Penguins really keeping things moving just not getting bounces that they need Tangradi with a chance but didn’t know he had it in his skates. Braden Holtby looking to make this game a shutout at this point with just 11:21 to go in regulation.

Hershey would lift the puck out of play giving the WBS Penguins a delay of game power play something they desperately need, but also need to generate some ofense on the power play, but yet again nothing doing for the Penguins not even a shot on net this makes it 0-6 tonight so far on the power play.

Dominik Uher would get called for tripping giving the Bears a power play that they really don’t need giving them the chance to go up by two if they convert,  Benn Ferriero came in on Braden Holtby almost scoring a shorty but catching the post.

With 4 minutes to go in regulation the Pens faceoff looking to generate something here trying to avoid the shuout  Smith gets robbed on a wrap around attempt. With 1:05 to go Pens pull Jeff Zatkoff looking to get the goal then an exhausted Alex Grant passes the puck up the boards right to a waiting  Jeff Taffe who slaps it home into the empty net making it game over 2-0 Bears win.

Should be a good game tomorrow night at the Mohegan Sun Arena if you don’t have your tickets your going to want to get them fans this should be
