Pens Take Crunch – Hynes Crowned Winningest WBS Coach

John Hynes get his rewards finally as he is crowned the winningest head coach in Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins history tonight after beating the Syracuse Crunch 3 – 2.

WBS Penguins would be first on the boards as Paul Thompson scores on the power play making it one nothing WBS. Alex Killorn would even things right up at one each just over five minutes later.

Mormina would put one past Tokarski just seconds after the Syracuse goal giving the WBS Penguins the lead once again. The crunch had a few nice chances but WBS left the ice for the first intermission leading 2-1.

Second period got off to an ok start the Pens leading 2-1 but giving up the first power play of the period. The WBS Penalty Kill held its ground not giving up the tying goal. WBS Penguins would get their third goal as “Big Dog” Eric Tangradi would put it on net and Trevor Smith would pop in the rebound.

The Syracuse Crunch would score again this period as well making it a one goal game again but the WBS Penguins would hold that lead into the third.

Even strength, Eric Tangradi shot a puck that Trevor Smith scored on a rebound giving the Pens a 3-1 lead. Later, Tyler Johnson copies the rebound goal and makes it 3-2.

The third period saw a lot of good hockey the Penguins really playing ruff hanging on to the one goal lead holding the Crunch off and limiting their SOG. Zatkoff played a good game not showing any signs from the minor injury he was out for at all, this is a good thing

WBS Penguins would win 3-2
