Megna would score just after smith making it two nothing pens, Portland would yank Mark Visentin, hoping a new goalie would settle things down a little.
WBS Penguins go on the PK as Peters sits for boarding penguins would kill it holding on to their two point lead. Penguins go back on the kill just after the first kill expires as Megna sits for a hook and the WBS Penalty Kill holds again.
First period ends WBS 2 Portland 0 one goalie change for Portland shots on net are WBS 12 Pirates 6.
In the Second period Tangradi gets slammed into Portland’s goalie by one of their players and gets called for interference creating a WBS Penalty Kill, Brian Gibbons gets a breakaway but could not get a handle on it.
WBS gets a power play just after their PK expires no conversion for the pens on this power play. Bobby Farnham gets a dance partner with Andy Miele from Portland and Mormina gets a rough giving Portland yet another power play. Thiessen holds his ground keeping Portland out.
WBS Penguins would score just after the Portland power play expires as Bennett fed Holzapfel fired a slaps hot from the point making it 3-0 WBS.
Grant, found a dance partner on the next face off as did Big Mac MacIntyre on the following face off with Rechlicz.
Portland would score making it 3-1. And then guess what, yes you are correct another square dance this time “Big Dog” Eric Tangradi and Bolduc would tangle drawing fives for it. Rechlicz came out of the box causing problems drawing a Unsportsmanlike conduct & a Misconduct.

Third period starts WBS getting some great chances Portland would be the first scoring team in the third as WBS plays the defensive game with the ever dangerous two goal lead now only one goal and lots of hockey to go.
And then you have the inevitable Portland scoring an un-screened even strength goal with still 11:16 to play in the third. Yes that’s right all tied at 3 with just over a half of a period to go. Pens have to quit playing to hold on and play to win.
WBS Penguins started to come to life after the Pirates 3rd goal getting some chances WBS goes on the power play as Portland sits with a double minor for high sticking but the Pens would cue up short. Reese would clear the pick over the glass putting the penguins down a man for two minutes.
Pens kill the penalty keeping it 3-3 heading for OT. WBS Penguins get a gift from Portland as they take a holding penalty giving the pens a power play bit just as it starts it ends Tangradi gets called for the same thing creating a 3 on 3 for two minutes. WBS draws another penalty making it a 4 on 3 for a few seconds but no goals.
End of OT score rained three all heading for a shoot out. Pens would not score a goal in the shoot out Portland tallied two giving Portland the win.
Not a great game in the way of winning but a fun one to watch, a little disappointed that they let the lead slip and didn’t stay on the attack in the beginning of the third period but that happens.
