Bears Edge Penguins In OT

The Penguins fail to get the puck out of the zone twice having their passes intercepted Hershey with a shot by  Oleksy and a tip by Sjogren get hershey on the board first.

Penguins come back with some good shifts after the Hershey goal but Dany Sabourin keeps the Penguins honest and out of the net keeping his Bears up by one. Then 14 seconds after the Pens go on the power play it would be Ben Ferriero smokes a one timer beating Sabourin clean making it one all exactly halfway through the first period.

WBS would get another goal with a nice shot from Simon Despres in the high slot putting it past Sabourin giving the Penguins a goal lead just 3:07 after the tying goal.

With just their tenth shot the Hershey Bears even the game up at two it would be a rebound goal none the less but still a goal for the Bears, both teams now showing just ten shots on net and points even at two. WBS comes right back with a nice forecheck creating some good chances late in the first.

Bortuzzo nets the Penguins third goal just 1:29 into the second beating Sabourin through the five hole getting things going after the break for the Pens, WBS would keep the momentum going after the Bortuzzo goal with eleven minutes left in the second out shooting the Bears ten to one. Just as things were looking good Zatkoff gets fooled as the Bears sneak one past him making it 3-3. Hershey’s Sjogren would take a holding penalty giving WBS their second power play of the game.

Jason Megna takes a slash after getting heckled by Sabourin costing the Penguins the power play they just earned, WBS would kill the penalty. Kundratek gets left all alone in the Penguins zone fires a puck on net and scores the Bears fourth goal putting WBS down by one very late in the second period. Hershey would take a cross check penalty giving the Pens 26.3 second power play for the second then 1:34 in the beginning of the third.

Penguins with the man advantage for the start of the third period  Eric Tangradi would score the Penguins fourth goal on the WBS power play making it a 4-4 game with plenty of third period action to go, Riley Hozapfel would take a slash giving the Bears an early third period power play Hershey looking for the go ahead goal but the Pens PK would hold . Oleksy would finally come out of the box after serving 14 minutes worth of penalties at the end of the second period.

With just over 4 minutes left in regulation the WBS Penguins are looking at an even Steven hockey game with the Hershey Bears both clubs registering 4 goals, shots on net at this point would be 23 for the Bears and 30 for the Penguins. WBS has gone 2 for 4 on the power play so far and the Bears 0-2, Sabourin turning away 19 out of 23 he faced and Zatkoff dismissing 26 out of 30 so far. That’s how it would end after regulation both teams scoring 4 goals and holding out for OT the Bears being 0-1 in the OT.

Hershey gets to OT draw but the Pens defend the Bears rush well Simon Despres still not out since the beginning of the third period, more than half of the OT period gone and not a shot on net by either team then A WBS turnover at the offensive blue line not being able to get back to defend and the Bears score taking the game in OT.
