Pens Take It To 4 Wins – Crunching Syracuse



Dupuis hit the post the puck rebounded out goal judge thought it was a goal ref waived it off then at 16:51 call it 2 for one but really only one Trevor Smith got the boys on the board. After a short review the officials agreed the first was not a goal.

Beau Bennett does some nice stick work helping the pens in the zone and setting up and nice scoring opportunity for WBS but just didn’t happen.

MacIntyre would sit in the bin for interference putting the crunch on the a power play but WBS would kill it

Peters would get called for holding putting the Pens a man down late in the period then the Crunches Connolly would draw an interference penalty making it a 4 on 4 and the Crunch would score Panik would put it in the net behind Zatkoff making it one all.

Pens give the crunch two power plays early in the second one for a sloppy line change and one as Peters sits in the box for interference Luckily they killed both.

WBS would score on a nice tic tac pass between Holzapfel and Bennett, with Bennett scoring. On the play just after the faceoff Despres gets called for interference giving the Crumch a chance to even it up

Later in the second the pens get a power play looking for an insurance goal but seem to have trouble setting up.

Peters and Nightingale would get into a scuffle drawing matching minors making it a 4 on 4 then Richard Panik would take a kneeing penalty with 1:27 left on the 4 on 4 making it a 4 on 3 for the pens. Brian Dumoulin would give the Pens some breathing room with a nice shot from the point now 3-1 pens.

After Nightingale boards Holzapfel. MacIntyre goes to discuss it with him. Samuelsson and Gauthier do a little dance all in all the Pens come out of it with a 5 minute power play with 2 seconds left on the 5 min Conacher boards Strait giving the Pens 2 more minutes.

Bennett hits Holzapfel with a nice breakaway pass Holzapfel with a nice move and lots of time smokes tokarski making it 4-1 Pens. The crunch score on a controversial goal looked ok but …..

WBS would get another power play as Cote would sit for high sticking. Then “Big Dog” Eric Tangradi would sit for a trip with 1:14 left in the original penalty so 4 on 4 again. As the Crunch were about to go on a short power play they get called for too many men making it 4 on 4 then a power play for 1.03 for WBS.

With 4:35 left in the third Bortuzzo gets called for boarding putting the Crunch on a 2 minute power play and they are looking to even the score. With 2 seconds left in the PK Syracuse scores making it 4-3 Penguins

Syracuse pulls Tokarski and goes for broke WBS Penguins hold the line scoring the empty netter from the WBS hash marks was Trevor Smith.

That would be that as the WBS Penguins takes the Crunch 5-3
