Zatkoff S.O.#3 Penguins Blank Bears

In the shadow of what you might call a dark cloud from an alleged comment passed supposedly by the WBS head coach John Hynes regarding the Hershey D Man Steve Olesky that was scooped by Gerry Cantlon, a Connecticut-based freelance writer, to the Power Play Post Show last night the WBS Penguins head to Chocolate town.

Now talking about the supposed and I say supposed because it isn’t proven nor dismissed as of yet, as per JB’s blogCoach Hynes strongly denied that he said anything regarding the alleged bounty.

Also according to JB’s blogthe AHL is investigating the situation

We will be following this as it develops and will keep you up to speed with us.

Now back to the game WBS Penguins getting off to a good start, the Bears getting some good chances too but  Zatkoff, holds the line as he has done so many times this season.  With just over twelve minutes left in the first the Pens have a mental breakdown over skate the puck and the bears almost score again but  Zatkoff, to the rescue.

WBS gets a chance on the power play as Boyd Kane  would sit for a slash just getting set up  Grant lets go with a howitzer blast hitting  Tangradi in the face leveling him as the ref blew the whistle the Pens scored but was waived off. Eric left the ice under his own power.

Stafford would sit for the bears giving WBS Penguins their second pp of the period despite all the good chances the bears and Braiden Holtby kill the WBS power play  making WBS now 0 for 2 on the power play. WBS Penguins hand the bears their second of the period very late giving the Bears a small power play to start the second, still no Tangradii on the bench.

Eric Tangradii back on the bench for the start of second. The Bears with the small power-play for the beginning of the second WBS Penguins kill it. WBS would get a power play as  Orlov would sit in the bin for Hershey WBS would convert as  Bennett  throws on on goal the puck would take a bounce off of  Steve Oleksy’s skate and into the net making it 1-0 Penguins. Just 29 seconds later Hershey would take a rough giving the Pens another power play.   Right off the face off  Despres puts a laser in the net glove side of  Braiden Holtby making it 2-0 Pens.

A little rough stuff starting after all is figured out it creates a power play for the Bears  but to be nullified as  Kundratek gets called for tripping but after all the dust settles still 2-0 Pens.

Matt Clackson and Steve MacIntyre did a little dance Mac getting the Knod  on that one. Both boys get a fight Mac gets a game  for continuing the altercation. Then Boyd Kane  takes a cheap shot on  Farnham gets called for it then shoots the puck in the net for an extra 2.

Start of the third Bears on the power play  Ben Ferriero gets a nice present on a breakaway short handed comes in on Holtby  and fires Holtby seems to make the save but flubs it and it ends in the net Ferriero gets the goal and the Penguins go up 3-0.

Thompson will sit in the bin for a hold  giving the beats their 3rd power play of the night just 3:37 in   WBS Penguins would kill the Bears chance and keep the 3-0 lead.

With just over a minute to play the Penguins force a turnover get the puck to Peters who rings it off the goal post and behind Holtby making it 4-0 Penguins.

This win would be Zatkoff’s 3rd shutout for this season. Penguins holding the bears to just one shot in the third period, a great defensivve showing and the  Pens go five for five on the PK tonight.
